Kings Beach, Lake Tahoe
Summer on the lake!!
Lake Tahoe is a short flight from Los Angeles, fly into Reno and then drive an hour to North Lake Tahoe. I booked an airbnb in Kings Beach and we mainly hung out in that area. There's a grocery store (Safeway) in town so we did a lot of cooking and bbq-ing at our rental. Our little doggy sons came along for the trip so everything we did was dog friendly.
We ate at a couple of places in Kings Beach:
Log Cabin Café- amazing and delicious brunch. We ate outside and each table has an umbrella. They even have gluten free options. We waited an hour for a table, but they have a call-ahead option which will shorten your wait.
Char Pit - greasy dive, but hits the spot. My husband got the ribs, which were tasty and spicy. I got the tacos.
Now, for the hikes. I recommend downloading the AllTrails app. It will keep you on the trail and has an easy map/gps you can use to drive and find the trail start point.
I highly recommend the Stateline Trail (1.5 roundtrip, completely paved, saw some firemen, excellent view), Tahoe Vista Trail (8 miles, challenging, good shade, amazing view) and Sagehen Creek (4.5 miles, narrow trail for first mile, wildflowers galore, reservoir at the end).
